Welcome to the Upper School

In the Upper School we have two classes per year group. There is a maximum of 20 children per class (15 -18 on average). The classes are named following Jesuit tradition:

Preparatory – Year Three (Mr. Stevenson and Mrs. Wilson)

Elements III – Year Four (Mrs. Gilson and Mr. Betts)

Elements II – Year Five (Mrs. Gladwin and Mr. Wilson)

Elements I – Year Six (Mrs. Purcell and Mrs. Keeton)

Throughout the upper school, the children become more independent and learn to take greater responsibility for themselves and others. As the children move into Preparatory, although they spend the majority of their time taught by their own class teacher, they begin to experience specialist teaching in subjects such as Science and Technology. As they progress through the school this specialist teaching is extended.

From Preparatory onwards, children are set for the main teaching subjects.  In this way, we can ensure that all children learn at the most appropriate pace.
