Barlborough Hall School
Key Stage I along with Foundation Stage forms the Pre Prep Department within the school. The Lower School has two classes per year group. There are a maximum of 20 children per class. We maintain small class sizes to ensure each child receives as much individual attention as possible.
Pre Prep II - Year 1 (Mrs Westmoreland and Miss Jennings)
Pre Prep I - Year 2 (Mrs Chadbourne and Mrs McLoughlin)
We also have a Nursery Nurse (Mrs Cockell) and a Non- Teaching Assistant (Miss Wright) to ensure children are given every opportunity to do well.
As the children move from Foundation Stage into Pre Prep I and II, they become more independent and begin to take more responsibility for themselves and their belongings. The children stay with their own class teacher for the majority of the day, but do have specialist teachers for Music, PE and Swimming. The children in Pre Prep I also have a specialist teacher for Science and have some of their lessons in the Science Laboratory. In Pre Prep I, there is an emphasis on preparing the children for Preparatory.
‘Pupils are well prepared for the move from one year to another and for the transition between different stages of the education.’(ISI Inspection Report 2006)
