The history of Barlborough Hall

Barlborough Hall School began as the junior school to Mount St. Mary's College, founded by the Society of Jesus in the 1840s, and was established as a separate Preparatory School when it moved to Barlborough Hall in 1939. Today, close links are established between the two schools, providing a shared vision of education for children from the age of 3 - 18. The Hall, a Grade 1 listed building, was built in 1583 by Francis Rodes: now adopted as a school it retains much of its original character. The chapel and many of the teaching rooms are in the Central Hall, while the Jacobean stable outbuildings and domestic quarters house the Early Years department for children aged 3 - 5, the theatre, recreation rooms and gym.
